Youth of the Year

The Youth of the Year program is the Boys & Girls Clubs of America's premier youth recognition program promoting and celebrating Club members and their service.   It is designed to promote and recognize service to club and community, academic performance, and contributions to family and community.

Each contestant in the Boys & Girls Clubs of South Puget Sound Youth of the Year competition will be judged in the areas of Home and Family, Moral Character, Community, School, Service to the Club, Life Goals, Obstacles Overcome, Essays Poise and Public Speaking.

Outstanding teens representing the Boys & Girls Clubs of South Puget Sound Clubs will compete for the Boys & Girls Clubs of South Puget Sound Youth of the Year title. The BGCSPS YOY winner will go on to compete for the state title.  If they win that, they will advance onto the regional competition and then lastly the national competition in Washington D.C., where they will have the opportunity to go to the White House and meet the President of the United States.
